Week 5- Pheasents/Nogard and More

Well what a busy week it has been.
We had Mrs Willis on Monday and we did Nogard Visualisation. This is an oral language activitiy. She read things out and we had to draw what we thought it looked like. See picture below.

We made pheasents because Mrs Farrelly is reading us Danny Champion of the World by Roald Dahl and in the book they have made a sceme to catch pheasents. We found this very interesting and fun. See some photos below of us making these.

We also made Honey-cones because our topic is Living Things and we are looking at Bees. See picture below.

We had such fun doing Scribble Art. We had to draw a picture and then draw scribbly lines and then colour them in. This hides the picture so it is secret. They look amazing. See some pictures below.

This week team time has started. This happens each Friday from 12:00 to 12:30pm.
Rm 14- Literacy Fun
Rm 15- Catch up/Finsishing Time
Rm 16- Craft (Friendship Braclets)
Rm 17- Theatre Sports

Any questions please come and see us before school.

A Time to Remember

We have had a great last couple of weeks and have even started getting prepared for our camp at Living Springs. You should have received information and forms regarding camp which need to be returned to school ASAP.

On Wednesday 22nd of February we marked the 1 year anniversary of the devastating Christchurch earthquake which 185 people lost there life. Everyone would have marked this day in their own way. At Avonhead School we joined together as a school and community and at 12:51pm had 1 minute silence to remember those that lost their lives but also to remember how far we have come since that day and to start looking ahead to the future.
Below you will find some photos of our day.

Welcome to Room 16 Blog

Welcome to Room 16's blog. This is going to be updated every week with exciting things we have been doing.
This will also be a place to come to get information on what is happening in Room 16 and up coming events.
For the first 4 weeks we will be updating this as a class. From week 5 we will have 2 class bloggers who will be in charge of the blog for 2 weeks at a time. They will take pictures of things we are doing, upload them to the blog and write about the things we have achieved. They also may ask children in Room 16 their highs for the week and share some affirmations.

We are so lucky in Room 16 as we have 2 teachers. Mrs Farrelly works Monday to Thursday and Ms Todd works every Friday. If you ever have any questions or concerns please come in and see us before or after school.

Week 2
We have been very spoilt today Friday 10th February. The Chinese performing Opera group.

The Dragon took 10days to to make by hand which we think is just amazing.

Our favourite parts of the performance was EVERYTHING!! It was amazing how they bought the Dragon to life.

We learnt that the dragon was handmade and took 10 days to make
When the dragon bows 3 times to you it will bring you good luck.
That it is a team sport as you all need to listen to each other otherwise the dragon does not flow
The person at the front keeps changing as the head of the dragon is so heavy

We have had an amazing first 2 weeks.

Please keep looking on here each week as we will put on up coming events and things you may need to know.
